Refinishing it destroys a significant amount of vintage value it has, or ever will have in the future ( unless it was absolutely necessary as a function of restoring it and it had a lot of value to begin with) A vintage guitar that looks vintage is many times better than a poorly refinished guitar. I don't intend my next comments to sound condescending, I don't intend them that way at all, but I'm totally sharing my opinion on the subject.Ī vintage guitar that is all lacquer cracked is fine, it is a vintage guitar that looks vintage - and people REALLY like that. It all depends on the value of the guitar and its sentimental value to you. There are a lot of caveats with respect to refinishing. It could be poly, that will crack too but not usually to the degree of lacquer. You could post a few close up pics.folks might weigh in with an opinion if they could see it. When you send payment you are agreeing to our terms. You'd have to determine what the finish is.I will assume if it is all crackled it is Lacquer. Over all a good player for the make and age and good vibe, plus it comes with a cool old coin on it! It is missnig the strap buttons - the bottom whole is open and the previous owner has glued a coin on to cover the top - a Jamaican 1 cent coin - pretty cool. The guitar is a Studio 5 / 51 serial number 55645, made in Germany.

The center seem on the back is closed but you can feel it if you run your thumb over it. The body is looking nice, there are plenty of scratches, scuffs and dings - but no breaks. It is playing well over all - the action gets higher going up the neck but for the make and age I'd call it a very playable one. The neck on these are small and easy, 1 9/16'' steel nut, it has fret wear but nothing that is causing playing issues, and a nice C profile. It currently has a set of flat wound steel strings on it that feel nice and sound pretty good. Up for sale, this is a great funky old Framus, tons of vibe, good sounds and in good vintage player condition.
